Been getting over a game at site yesterday ......... to old for all that, got up late and then took Diane for a ride in the country and out to Dinner for Roast beef with all the trimmings, was great and found a new pub to take her for ''that special meal'' :)
Gained 10 brownie points today only leaves me 100,000,000,000,090 to make up for that I am in the red :(

Heh, just finished one myself - largely recycled from old fencing. I found the dimensions and photos of originals so construction is pretty authentic, I'm pondering over rope handles though, to make it easier to carry, but ration boxes didn't have them. Decisions, decisions. In the next week or I'll have done the lino blocks for stamping the contents info.
Stood on end they are just right for seat height, so multi-functional!

I'll work up some plans for a larger generic equipment crate Nige that will turn into a handy table...

I was thinking of making a crate of some sort to carry all my odds and sods for games, were the US boxes any different from Brit ones?

Yes...

A K-Ration crate is probably what you want Alex.

These guys do those and C-Ration crates...

The K-ration crate there is a late war one. The stencils on the early ones are subtly different.

My dad made me a K-ration crate (mid/early war). I found the plans on the net. The one he made me has a lid magnetic catches on it and I keep all my food stuff in it at events.

This is mine:

Awesome thanks mate, I'll have a look at that. Not too bad at the old wood work, might knock one up...althought the magnetic catches might not be on the cards.
